Engineering & Design Support
At the start of every project, whether it is an existing client design or one created by our team of experts, Panova’s engineering team will work with you to define the scope of the project, as well as metrics for its success. We seek to gain a complete understanding of a product’s application and environment, a critical point in both design optimization and material selection and will then leverage a number of resources to provide recommendations on design optimization that may deliver better results and/or a more cost effective solution.

TechnologyAt Panova, technology is integral to our ability to serve and support our clients. Leveraging our Certified Solidworks Professional training and certification, we are adept ay working with imported geometry from a multitude of different CAD platforms. This include, but is not limited to, .stp,.igs,x_t, and .prt files. We use Solidworks Inspection to create customized ballooned inspection drawings and reports for each part we manufacture. We also provide top quality renderings for marketing purposes via Solidworks Visualize. Additionally, we use equipment to reverse engineer designs and to test products. At our New Jersey headquarters, our engineers use the Starrett MVR300 Zoom optics video measuring system to accurately measure, analyze, and reverse engineer down to the finest microscopic details. At our inspection facility in Shanghai, the team utulizes Eason VMS machines for first article and production inspection.
Prototyping & Product Development
Panova works as your single source to bring a component or complete product from conception to production. With an intelligent, experience-based design approach, we assist our clients with technical brainstorming, reverse engineering, material selection, manufacturing process analysis, prototyping, tooling, and production validation.
Our clients are integral members of our design team. In our technical review, our team works with our client(s) to gain a complete understanding of what defines a successful design. During these brainstorm sessions we take the time to learn the details of the project’s application, environment, target market, end-user, and more.
For what you may not be able to provide or quantify, our experience and expertise can serve as a valuable resource. It is not uncommon that our clients approach us with an existing product to explain their vision of how it can be optimized or used in new applications. Based on this information, we are able to reverse engineer and peform a functional analysis of the components to help establish parameters for a new design.
Manufacturing Process Analysis
Our team makes a concerted effort to design products that streamline manufacturing and eliminate “in the field” issues as early as possible, while still adhering to the design parameters. Using SolidWorks, our engineering team provides 3D models and 2D engineering drawings that can be generated from scratch or as the result of a reworked originial model provided by the client.
Once our team and client have agreed on a design, we move into product prototyping. This includes: 3D printed samples in a variety of materials and durometers, functional mock-ups from a combination of different manufacturing processes, and samples from prototype tooling using the proposed production manufacturing process.
These form, fit, and function samples give the entire team an “up close” feel for the proposed design before committing to the final design and production tooling. These samples often help alleviate potential concerns and allow the client to see design details they may have originally missed when looking at the drawing or rendering.
Design Validation & Tooling
WOO HOO! The design is ready to be tooled. At this point, we aid in developing tool designs & DFMs to ensure that the tooling will not affect any of the design criteria. Once tooling has been designed and built, first article samples are run. Typically, clients will receive two parts from each cavity of the tool (or two “heats). First articles are bagged and labeled according to tool cavity number and submitted with full dimensional detail inspection reports.
After first article samples are approved by the client, the product is moved into the production validation stage. Should any changes be needed after review of the first articles, the Panova team will carefully review these changes to ensure that we fully understand the “what” and “why”. Upon complete clarification, changes to the tool or process are made, and another round of samples are run, inspected, and submitted for client approval.
